Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs on defeating the San Francisco 49ers and winning Super Bowl LVIII in the official Madden NFL 24 simulation.
Almost got everyone there. The NFL had their annual video game simulation of the game, and this year, Madden predicts that not only will the AFC champion defeat the 49ers in the Super Bowl, but the Chiefs will also repeat.
There’s only one minor issue for anyone who has kept up with this annual habit. Madden has failed to correctly identify the winner for the past three years.
Last year, the video game showed the Philadelphia Eagles lifting the trophy, and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid made sure his previous squad didn’t get to enjoy the confetti.
So Kansas City is now attempting to break the Madden curse by defending its title against San Francisco.
The good news for Chiefs supporters is that the last time the sim got it right was when Madden predicted Kansas City would overcome the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV. It also accurately predicted that quarterback Patrick Mahomes would win the game’s Most Valuable Player award, which he did.
Madden is relying on Mahomes to win this year’s Super Bowl. But, as EA Sports’ famous intro says, “it’s in the game,” and it will be determined on the field on Sunday rather than on the computer.
