Weekly Metropolitan Division Snapshot: 2/4/2024 – 2/10/2024

Just yesterday was the All-Star Game. Everyone has tomorrow off. For nearly everyone in the Metropolitan Division, it was a weeklong break. The only team that played last week was the Columbus Blue Jackets. To conclude their journey, they split their two games. They now receive a break apart from the ASG. As a result, the division rankings in the snapshot are unchanged from last week. The Carolina Hurricanes are chasing the New York Rangers, who are currently leading the league .But since this is also following All-Star Weekend, I’ve carried on the custom of providing more information. The 2023–24 NHL regular season is down to just two and a half months, therefore it’s more crucial than ever to monitor the Atlantic Division and one’s chances of making the playoffs or winning the lottery. Because of this, I’ve included the playoff odds from Moneypuck, which I pulled on February 2 a few days ago. Additionally, I’ve included the lottery odds, which I’ve named the Macklin Celebrini odds . Celebrini is the Along with italicizing their matches against clubs in the Metropolitan Division, I have also included the Atlantic Division teams to the weekly calendar. Scoreboard watching extends beyond the division since those games will count towards the wild card. Games in the division will continue to be bold and emphasized. This week, there is just one because everyone returns to work on Monday or Tuesday except for Columbus. What’s Up Next: The New York Rangers will play Colorado on Monday night to resume their season. That is a challenging opening game of the month considering how excellent Colorado is and how much they can score, especially after a poor January. The difficulties won’t go away. Tampa Bay will visit the Rangers on Wednesday night. The group boasts a standout scorer and has demonstrated that they can play with anyone. On paper, at least, the Rangers will have some relief. The Rangers will visit Chicago on Friday night. They should lose to the Rangers. However, everything is possible because they did lose to San Jose last month. The Rangers supporters that desire for their team to finish firstThis Week’s Events: The Carolina Hurricanes will play three straight games in Raleigh after their break. Carolina is still very much in the running for first place, even though none of the games will be particularly simple. The Canes will meet the potent offensive Vancouver Canucks team on Tuesday. a group that recently included Elias Lindholm, a former hurricane. The Colorado Avalanche, another very offensive squad, will be the Canes’ opponent on Thursday. Yes, against the team with the most goals in the league for two games in a row. Carolina’s home game against the New Jersey Devils will round up the week. Even though the Canes defeated them on January 25, if Carolina fails to show up that evening, a more frantic Devils club might surprise them. What’s Up Next: On Tuesday night in the state of Florida, the Philadelphia Flyers will resume play in the regular season. That evening, they will face the Panthers in a challenging game. The Flyers had a five-game losing streak prior to their vacation, so they must be careful not to let it continue now that it is about to end. When the Flyers host a strong Winnipeg squad on Thursday night, things won’t get any easier. They will then host another team hoping to make the playoffs in Seattle on Saturday night. Philly really needs to win. If not, third place might be up for grabs very quickly, and Flyers supporters would have to cheer not just against other results but also against three clubs from the Atlantic Division. What’s Up Next: On Monday night, the New York Islanders will resume their season. They’re heading to Toronto in hopes of making a splash in the wildcard round. The Maple Leafs

, who might want to aim higher than a wild card position, could also benefit from the game, but the Isles will need it most. On Thursday night, the Isles will host Tampa Bay for a game against a team that is on the Wild Card Watch. Given that the Lightning play the night before, the Islanders will have an advantage in rest for this game. That, in my opinion, increases the significance of that game for the Isles. They play an early afternoon home game versus Calgary to wrap up their week. The Isles were handed a new coach and perhaps a new order. What’s Up Next: The Pittsburgh Penguins will visit Winnipeg on Tuesday night to begin their season. Sean Monahan has since been included, after the Jets finalized that trade with Montreal last week. But really, it will be a difficult test following the break since the Jets are a formidable opponent. Since they would be seeing them again this week, they ought to become acquainted with them. The Penguins travel to Minnesota on Friday night and then spend Saturday night in Winnipeg. They must show they have learnt from Tuesday’s game and steer clear of the trap game in Minnesota. They may not care if they don’t produce results even though they have played less games than their opponents in the division. The Columbus Blue Jackets were traveling through the Northwest. It had to be completed before the weekend of the All-Star Game. The ASG is followed by their farewell “week.” They split those two games together. In a race to the bottom, Columbus supporters are undoubtedly keeping an eye on Anaheim, San Jose, Chicago, and Ottawa. since the Blue Jackets currently are in the bottom five of the standings. January 30, 1-0, in St. Louis Win: Are you a fan of shots? There were only 43 of them between the two sides in this encounter. a thrilling 22–21 shot differential in the Blue Jackets’ advantage. Columbus was shut out, as the score shows. The Blues’ twenty-one bullets were stopped by. Early in the third period, the game’s lone goal would be scored. Voronkov completed a counterattack feed from Zach Werenski. That covered all of the points, and it was sufficient. Given how difficult that travel can be and how difficult Columbus has found the going this season, their trip finishes with a 2-2-1 record, which is not terrible. This week’s schedule includes a break till Saturday. They are receiving it now as they did not receive it prior to the ASG. The Blue Jackets will play Tampa Bay at home on Saturday night in their return to action. That evening, a number of teams in the Metropolitan division will be hoping the Blue Jackets can effectively be a spoiler. The 17th Weekly Metropolitan Division Snapshot for the 2023–24 season was that one. This coming week, will the Hurricanes surpass the Rangers? This week, will the Flyers win a game? Who will emerge as the winner by next week’s snapshot, among the Isles, Devils, Penguins, and Capitals? Kindly share your responses and further reflections over the previous week and the upcoming week for the Metropolitan Division in the comments section. I appreciate you taking the time to read.
