Insiders Reveal What to Watch for With Rodon

This season, the New York Yankees want to win a World Series. They have more than enough to finish that assignment after signing Marcus Stroman and trading for Juan Soto. Even with the Yankees’ strength, winning a World Series is never an easy feat, and the club will need to work together to achieve their objective. Carlos Rodon’s health could be the primary reason why New York is a completely different squad in 2024 as they head into Spring Training. Injury concerns were a major factor in Rodon’s struggles during the previous season. It completely alters this club if he can become the pitcher he was before 2023. MLB .com’s Thomas Harrigan and David Adler identified each team’s one crucial number for 2024. They write Carlos Rodon’s WAR for the Yankees. They observe that they have questions in the rotation after Gerrit Cole. In his 14 starts, Rodon recorded a 6.85 ERA and a -0.9 WAR. According to Harrigan and Adler, he must perform at the level he did in 2021–2022—that is, record 10.5 WAR.

Now that Stroman is involved, the left-handed future ace is under less pressure. The pressure from the media and fans to play for the Yankees is known to be difficult, so it may have played a part.
