Here are few recently-departed AFL players set to resume their careers next year👇

Over 70 players from the AFL’s 2023 delisting class have already secured new opportunities in the AFL or in the VFL, WAFL, SANFL, NTFL, and QAFL for the upcoming season.

This year, six players who were cut by their teams have been given second chances through delisted free agency, the Rookie Draft, or the Supplemental Selection Period. Four more players may be given fresh opportunities during this latter window as they prepare for list places.

Orazio Fantasia (joined Carlton), Riley Bonner (St Kilda), Jack Mahony (Gold Coast), Emerson Jeka (Geelong), Jeremy Sharp (Fremantle), and Lachie Bramble (Western Bulldogs) were all delisted during off-season and will all rejoin the AFL the following season with different teams.

Recently delisted players have the option to train for SSP list slots with Collingwood, Gold Coast, and Fremantle. Former Essendon forward Patrick Voss is vying for a chance with the Dockers and, should he not be successful out west, has signed with VFL club Port Melbourne.

The Borough has been one of the busiest teams in the AFL to sign former players; as of 2024, they have signed eight players from the top division.

There are now 25 delisted AFL players in the VFL, compared to 12 in the SANFL and 11 in the WAFL for next season.

Seven delisted players have already played in the 2023–24 NTFL season, and it is expected that they will sign with more clubs for the upcoming winter season.

After playing for Darwin, Rhys Mathieson, a former midfielder for Brisbane, joined Wilston Grange of the QAFL.

Up to 12 delisted players, including former Western Bulldogs teammates Toby McLean (Old Ivanhoe) and Hayden Crozier (Surfers Paradise), immediately transitioned to local footy.
