Nashville — Chad Brinker, newly appointed to President of Football Operations, and Anthony Robinson, Assistant General Manager, will represent the Tennessee Titans at this week’s Senior Bowl practices in Mobile. According to a team source, Ran Carthon, the Executive Vice President, and Brian Callahan, the recently appointed coach, will remain in Nashville to conduct interviews with potential assistant coaches.
Brinker, Robinson, and the whole Titans scouting team will attend Senior Bowl workouts from Tuesday to Thursday, as well as the game on Saturday. The NFL Network will carry the game on Saturday.
Amy Adams Strunk, Tennessee Titans owner, has expressed a desire for the business to become more collaborative in choices affecting player acquisition and development on several occasions. Adams Strunk began a reorganization process for the Titans by naming Brian Callahan as the new coach to replace Mike Vrabel. In addition, Ran Carthon and Chad Brinker were promoted to new positions to reshape the team’s football power structure. Carthon and Callahan are focusing on coaching hires, while Brinker is scouting possible new Titans, demonstrating the new power dynamic in action.
“As our league advances in areas such as analytics, sports science, and technology, football organizations grow more complicated and multifaceted. “I want our football operation to be at the forefront of the NFL as teams look for new competitive advantages,” Adams Strunk said in a statement. Carthon’s new responsibilities include managing all aspects of the football team, including roster control, team activities, personnel decisions (including draft and free agency acquisitions), oversight of Callahan and his coaching staff, scouting, sports medicine, and player involvement.
Brinker is in charge of several football departments, including salary cap management, analytics and planning, communications and information systems, and team operations like security, video, equipment, and grounds. In addition, Brinker will continue to scout college and NFL players.
“In this new role, Chad will blend his executive experience with his strengths in football and scouting to ensure our football operation continues to innovate and grow as new opportunities emerge,” Adams Strunk, the company’s CEO, stated. “Chad’s oversight of these areas will allow Ran to focus his full attention and energy on building and leading a championship football team.” The Titans have an excellent track record of scouting players in the Senior Bowl, with recent examples including cornerback Roger McCreary and running back Tyjae Spears.
Most draft experts believe the Titans will select Penn State lineman Olu Fashanu or Notre Dame tackle Joe Alt with the seventh overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Neither of those players is likely to attend the Senior Bowl, but several others who the Titans may draft with the 38th choice in the second round will.
Terrell Williams, the Titans’ associate head coach and defensive line coach, is the head coach of the American team in the Senior Bowl, which might provide the team with further knowledge into players because Williams will spend a lot of time with them.
