Sacovie White, a 5-foot-9, 180-pound playmaker, was a two-way player for Cartersville (Ga.) Cass, but he’s a freshman enrollee in Athens ready to contribute to the offense. White had 91 receptions for 1,409 yards and 15 touchdowns; according to Cass head coach Steve Gates, White’s receiving Benjamin Wolktotal was the highest of any wide receiver in Georgia this season. , “Everyone’s like, ‘Oh, he’s not going to play,’ or ‘He’s going to wear this large number and never get on the field. “Well, they are unaware of what they truly say to me and what is going on. I said, “Okay, just talk some more and we’ll see.”
With 54 receptions for 716 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior, 134 rushing yards and two ground touchdowns, and a touchdown on punt and kickoff returns as a return man, White led the Colonels to the GHSA Class 5A second round. In addition, White competed in track and field. In his junior year of 2022–2023, he averaged 7.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game. White competed in the 200 and 100-meter relay events and set track records of 11.06 in the 100-meter and 6’4″ in the high jump
He earned an offer from Georgia in June 2022 at the Kirby Smart 7-on-7 tournament and impressed the coaching staff again during a return workout in a camp setting.
