INTERVIEW: Victor Torp on his debut, first goal, and FA Cup reaction
Victor Torp made his Coventry City debut with a magnificent score against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
The midfielder unleashed an incredible effort from distance, putting City ahead just before the break.
The Sky Blues were pegged back late in the game, forcing a replay at The Coventry Building Society Arena.
After the game, Torp reflected on his debut goal and appearance for the Sky Blues.
Focusing on the goal…
“It was a fantastic strike and goal, and I thoroughly liked my first game.
“I had a fantastic feeling when I hit the ball, you know, one of those where you feel you hit it perfectly and then it went in, and there was a great sensation, and to score on my debut, that’s the ideal.
“I enjoy striking the ball and having long-range shots, and this was one of those days where I hit it perfectly.
This is his competitive debut.
“It’s my first game in about a month and a half, and it’s good to be playing again. I enjoyed playing the game today, even though the pitch was rough.
“Yeah, it’s bumpy and difficult to play our style of football, but I believe we had some good attacks and created some decent chances, but it’s not easy to play on this pitch.”
“I have been looking forward to this. I hadn’t played in a long time, so you obviously want to make your debut as soon as possible, and it felt good to get it today.
Away fans…
“They are fantastic. I was here last Saturday as well, in the same stadium; the away fans are incredible, and the support we receive is unbelievable.
“Awesome, wonderful, fans.
Regarding a system modification…
“We’re still playing with three midfielders, so my role was the same.
“We played a different system. For me, it’s now just about developing relationships with my teammates and getting to know them better, and they’re getting to know me, so that’s the most important aspect and things to do. It’s extremely crucial in football.
His first encounter with the FA Cup.
“Yeah, I’m from Denmark, and we’re familiar with the FA Cup, which has a rich history.
“I’ve seen various finals and games, so to play in the FA Cup is a huge accomplishment for me, and I’m delighted to have done so.
Replay…
“Obviously, we want to win today, and we had the lead late in the game, but now it’s a rematch, and we’ll try again.
