The Detroit Lions have a surprise addition to their injury list at quarterback on Friday afternoon. The Lions published their last injury report for the week following their final practice before facing the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

They could be missing one of their quarterbacks against the 49ers.

Hendon Hooker is questionable to play for the 49ers.

According to a statement from the Lions, rookie quarterback Hendon Hooker is uncertain to face the 49ers due to a dental injury. According to the Lions injury report, Hooker did not participate in Friday’s practice. Hooker fully participated in the Lions’ first two practices of the week.

The Detroit Lions need a third quarterback active against the 49ers.

The Lions need a third quarterback available to participate in the NFC Championship Game. The 49ers’ injuries to Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson in last season’s NFC Championship Game prompted the NFL to revise its quarterback rules. NFL teams can now have an emergency quarterback on their 53-man roster who does not count against the team’s 46-man game-day active roster.

Starting quarterback Jared Goff and backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater are both healthy as the Lions prepare for the NFC Championship Game. However, things might alter soon against a formidable 49ers defense.

The Lions could promote David Blough.

If Detroit rules out Hooker, the Lions may raise practice squad quarterback David Blough on Saturday so he may play against the 49ers.
