Aston Villa has confirmed the signing of Kosta Nedeljković for roughly £7.75 million, including add-ons.
Nedeljković has signed from Red Star Belgrade and will stay in Serbia for the rest of the season before joining his new colleagues.
In a recent interview with Serbian media source Mozzard Sport, the kid regarded Villa as an attractive club: “This type of offer from Aston Villa is incredibly impressive to me. I’m quite excited, and it means a lot to my self-confidence. I hope everything goes well in Birmingham for the contract signing, and then I’ll return to Serbia.
Who is Kosta Nedeljković?
Kosta, who turned 18 in December, is a highly regarded right-back who came through the Red Star academy. In February 2021, he signed his first professional contract and trained at the Red Star Academy before joining RFK Grafičar Beograd of the Serbian First League for the second part of the 2022-23 season.
During his loan with the Violets, he appeared in 21 games and scored one goal.
He made his Red Star first-team debut this season and has since made 12 appearances. Kosta has also represented Serbia at all levels, including the under-19 national team.
Nedeljković is a raw talent with a top speed of 36.4 km/h, equal to Kylian Mbappé.
He has been described as a player with enormous potential, an excellent ball crosser, disciplined, and capable of both defending and attacking.
It is unknown what Unai Emery’s long-term plans are for the young Serb, but the Basque manager clearly wants more competition for Matty Cash at right back. Ezri Konsa has lately been moved out of his preferred centre-half position, while Kane Kesler-Hayden has been recalled from his loan spell with Plymouth in the Championship.
