The 2024 NFL Draft is almost approaching. Soon, players throughout the country will be waiting to hear their names called, ushering them into the next chapter of their careers, while NFL organizations bolster their rosters with brilliant and emerging talents.
Florida State is expected to have several picks take their game to the next level in the 2024 NFL Draft. With guys like Keon Coleman, Trey Benson, Jared Verse, and Jordan Travis expected to go early, defensive tackle Braden Fiske is starting to appear on NFL mock drafts.
In their most recent forecast, Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus has Fiske going to the Cleveland Browns in the third round with the 86th overall pick.
“The Browns have Dalvin Tomlinson in the middle, but he’s over 30 years old. Shelby Harris’ contract lasted just for one year. This opens up the possibility of Cleveland selecting an inside defensive lineman on Day 2.
Fiske is tiny for an interior defensive lineman, weighing under 300 pounds (295), yet his lower weight results in an explosive first step as a one-gap penetrating pass rusher. In five of his last seven games, he had a pass-rush victory percentage that over 10%. The Browns already have some solid rotational defensive lineman, but they lack true pass rushers like Fiske.”
Fiske joined FSU as one of the top players in the country in 2022, coming from Western Michigan. During his one season at Florida State, he recorded 43 tackles and six sacks while also serving as a steady leader in the locker room. He suffered injuries late in his Seminole career, causing him to miss the Orange Bowl, but he came up huge with three sacks in the ACC Championship game against Louisville.
In five seasons at Western Michigan, he had 148 tackles, including 27.5 for loss with 13.5 sacks, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and a blocked kick.
