Dan Campbell provided the most recent information on Sam LaPorta’s injuries before the Detroit Lions face the Rams in the first round of the playoffs.
LaPorta injured his knee in the regular-season finale against the Vikings, and Lions fans have been waiting all week for an update.
During Wednesday’s conference, Campbell stated that LaPorta is “getting better,” but the club would not receive a reliable report on his condition until “probably Friday afternoon.”
“LaPorta is walking today, so he’s feeling better,”
Campbell stated before addressing questions.
Nonetheless, LaPorta received the second question.
“You mentioned Sam was running around today. Will he play on Sunday? (Detroit Lions).
“I’ll go back to what I said two days ago: after today’s training we will know a lot, and then tomorrow when he wakes up?”
Campbell stated.
“I know this: he is getting better every day.”
The status of Detroit Lions Sam LaPorta remains unknown, but Coach Dan Campbell continues to provide intriguing updates on the rookie weapon.
“He’s getting better,” Campbell remarked.
“I don’t think we’ll know or feel like we have a good picture until Friday afternoon. But every day, we’ll do more with him. “He is getting better.”
LaPorta sprained his knee and hamstring during the team’s regular-season finale against the Minnesota Vikings.
Initial reports indicated that LaPorta would miss at least one or two games, but Campbell left the door open for LaPorta to play all week in the NFC Wild Card game against the Los Angeles Rams.
After the Vikings game, he stated that they had received more positive news than expected, and on Monday, he gave LaPorta a “slight” chance to play this week.
LaPorta has been a key component of the Lions’ offense this season.

LaPorta limped off the field Sunday against Minnesota after injuring his left knee and was brought to the locker room by stretcher.
“It doesn’t look bad, but it’s not good news,”
Campbell spoke after his team finished the regular season with a 30-20 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
“I know it looks bad.”
Detroit will host the Los Angeles Rams and former Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford in the wild-card round of the playoffs on Sunday night.
“You’re either all in or you’re all out,”
Campbell stated.
LaPorta set an NFL rookie record with 86 catches, surpassing Keith Jackson’s 81 receptions with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1988.
He has five receptions for 29 yards and two scores against the Vikings. In 2011, LaPorta equaled the franchise record with three more sacks than Brandon Pettigrew.
He and Odell Beckham Jr. are the two rookies in NFL history with fewer than 86 catches and ten touchdown receptions.
