The Cleveland Browns defense has been historic on many levels this season, but they haven’t been flawless. There is one area where they can improve and make a difference.
From Week 1 to present, the Cleveland Browns have had the best defense in the NFL. They play an entertaining style of football in which they are aggressive in coverage, have three great cornerbacks, and persistently pressure the passer. These two factors, combined with outstanding linebacker play, have made them the best unit in the league.
At the end of Week 18, many of the stats we believed to be accurate were confirmed.
Some of the numbers reported by this group this year are remarkable. However, there is one region on the pitch where they can make a large jump: the red area.
In the playoffs, teams will move the ball against you. It’s the 14 top teams in the league, so there are no cupcakes. When teams get the ball into the red zone, giving up three points rather than seven is the difference in the game.
Going into Saturday, Cleveland is dead last in the league, allowing a touchdown on 71.3 percent of their trips to the red zone.
For as solid as this defense has been, it’s incredible that they haven’t been able to stop opponents when they enter that area of the field.
On Saturday, it will be crucial to dig deep in their own end and consistently convert seven points into three.

Browns stage a gym class takeover at Mary McLeod Bethune School in cooperation with Meijer.
The Cleveland Browns began 2024 with their fourth Gym Class Takeover of the 2023-24 school year on January 9, in collaboration with Meijer.
Mary McLeod Bethune School won the Gym Class Takeover: Playoff Edition for their efforts in raising student attendance and participation in the Browns Flag In-Schools program and the Stay in the Game! Attendance Network.
In front of an all-school assembly of around 200 children, Browns alumni Hanford Dixon spoke to them about the significance of education and football in his own life, as well as raising excitement in the gym about the Browns’ playoff run.
Then, Alan Jordan, Store Director of the Fairfax Market by Meijer, presented the Cleveland Metropolitan School District with a $5,000 grant in honor of Meijer’s inauguration of the Fairfax Market in Cleveland, which will open in the Cleveland Innovation District on January 16.
“Fairfax Market is determined to be more than just a new retailer. “We will be an active partner, investing in the community and promoting local businesses,” Jordan stated. “We look forward to providing convenient access to fresh, quality food and other necessities at good prices, and we can’t wait to welcome our neighbors into the store this month.”
CMSD assigned the cash from the donation for Project ACT. CMSD’s Project ACT provides direct instructional and support services to children and youth dwelling in temporary emergency shelters, transitional housing, and doubled-up pupils living with other families as a result of housing loss, economic difficulty, or other comparable circumstances.
Project ACT takes a holistic and comprehensive approach to providing instructional and support services that are required to smooth the child’s transition into school, as well as to assure the child’s success and continued engagement in the educational system.
Support services comprise everything required to address students’ physical, social, and emotional requirements while also encouraging parents to help their children in this quest. To achieve this purpose, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District employs all relevant resources. They also help students who are members of Project ACT with further food insecurity.
“Meijer is new in Cleveland, and we’re very excited; I can’t wait to go visit the store that’s going to open up around the corner from this school,” Zashin went on to say. “I believe we will send some of our unaccompanied youngsters who do not have a lot of food on a brief field trip to Meijer to see the brand-new store and to help us select what type of food they would like to have as snacks throughout the day. So that could be a wonderful thing to do.
