The Cleveland Browns had a successful 2023-24 NFL season. Cleveland has risen through the AFC North ranks and has set its sights on the playoffs. The Browns, on the other hand, are in mourning following the death of legendary franchise quarterback Frank Ryan.
Former Browns quarterback Frank Ryan has died after a long and honorable career with the team.
Ryan’s life came to an end at the age of 87, according to the Cleveland Browns’ team website. Ryan’s family issued a statement explaining that the former NFL legend died as a result of the devastation caused by Alzheimer’s disease.
Ryan went 52-22 in seven seasons with the Browns, throwing for 13,361 yards, 134 touchdowns, and 88 interceptions. Furthermore, he led Cleveland to its most recent NFL championship in 1964 and was a three-time Pro Bowler between 1964 and 1966.’
While in the league, Frank Ryan accomplished an incredible feat. In 1965, he received his Ph.D. in mathematics from Rice University. His academic background aided his post-football career service.
Ryan served as the Director of House Information Systems for the United States for seven years. As a result, he oversaw the creation of the first computerized voting system used by the United States Congress.
The Browns legend was also an Athletic Director at Yale University and a mathematics professor at various academic institutions.
Ryan and his wife had just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary when he died. His family stood by his side until the bitter end. The former Cleveland quarterback will be remembered for his honorable athletic, academic, and community service achievements.

ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO – The Broncos’ practice squad has grown by one tight end.
Denver announced the signing of tight end Johnny Lumpkin on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-6, 268-pound player attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and appeared in 51 games, catching 36 passes for 408 yards and six touchdowns.
Lumpkin signed with the Patriots after the 2023 NFL Draft and participated in their offseason program and training camp. He then spent time with the Colts’ practice squad in early 2023.
Lumpkin has yet to make an appearance in an NFL game.
