Just In: Fan-Favorite Former Seahawk Announces Comeback with Team That Made Him Famous

This upcoming season will be his ninth in the NFL  which honestly caught me off guard. I assumed he’d been around longer. Over his career, He has played for the Jets, Seahawks, Titans, and wrapped up last season with a brief stint (two games) on the Lions.

Now, he’s hoping to return to where it all began.

The quote didn’t come from Pro Football Talk, but rather from an interview with The Jets Lounge, where Adams said:

“I would love to be back with the Jets and, obviously, finish it the right way. Man, that would be a dream come true to patch up that relationship and make it work. Just come in as a seasoned vet, mentor the young guys, and help however I can. I know I can still play.”

You can’t really blame him. After all, the Jets once flipped him for two first-rounders, a third, and safety Bradley McDougald and still managed to go just 18-33 over the next three seasons, finishing last in the AFC East twice.

Adams’ career trajectory has been difficult to watch. He remains one of the top three blemishes on John Schneider’s trade history alongside Jimmy Graham and Percy Harvin. After posting stellar Approximate Values (AV) of 10 and an eye-popping 14 with the Jets, his production dropped to 9 in his first season with Seattle and hasn’t gone above 5 since.

Interestingly, many Jets fans still gloat over the trade with Seattle, so Adams expressing a desire to return feels like a poetic full-circle moment.               .

Jets fans still take pride in how that trade with Seattle turned out, so seeing Adams express interest in returning to New York adds an interesting full-circle twist.

For what it’s worth, the second-most valuable player to come out of the Jamal Adams deal might actually be Coby Bryant and that’s kind of fun to note.

Honestly, when I first saw the headline, I figured it would say Adams wanted to rejoin the Seahawks. There’s still a lingering sense of “what could’ve been” with that chapter, and I doubt I’m the only one who feels that way.

No hard feelings toward Adams at all. I really hoped things would’ve panned out better here. The NFL was simply more fun when he was playing at an elite level. That said… best of luck to both him and the Jets if a reunion is in the cards.
