BLOCKBUSTER DEAL: Kings’ $186M Big Man Headed to Lakers in Reaves Shake-Up

In this proposed trade, the Kings would acquire 26-year-old Lakers guard Austin Reaves, who significantly elevated his performance this season. Now in his fourth NBA year, Reaves posted averages of 20.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, while shooting 46.0% from the field, 37.7% from three, and 87.7% from the free-throw line.

Additionally, Sacramento would gain two strong perimeter defenders in Rui Hachimura and Dorian Finney-Smith. New general manager Scott Perry has emphasized the need to bring in more length and athleticism on the wings this offseason, and this trade would support that vision while also adding a skilled playmaker in Reaves.

While Sabonis might not be the ideal center for the Lakers, the two-time All-NBA selection remains a well-established talent. He averaged 19.1 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 6.0 assists this season, shooting 59.0% from the field, 41.7% from beyond the arc, and 75.4% from the line. Paired with Doncic and James, Sabonis could be a valuable contributor.

Austin Reaves Isn't 'Untouchable' in Trade Talks, but Lakers Would Only Move the $54,000,000 Star Under 1 Condition | PFSN

With LeBron entering his 23rd season and Doncic shouldering a heavy offensive load, the presence of a versatile big man who can facilitate and dominate inside could prove essential.

Naturally, a deal like this would involve more moving parts, but a trade headlined by a Sabonis-for-Reaves exchange could present enough upside for both teams to justify making it happen, even within the same division.
